Latest Update on ÂÜÀòÍøSign-on Letters
February 28, 2025
Over the last two weeks, ÂÜÀòÍøjoined national organizations on letters to Congress on various issues:
- In response to proposals for reconciliation to 1) increase CEP eligibility to 60 ISP and 2) require income verification for every Free and Reduced Priced Lunch Form schools receive. These changes would drastically reduce student access to the meals they need and unnecessarily increase the administrative burden for schools.
- Opposition to the withholding and cancellation of Congressionally enacted investments: ÂÜÀòÍøis a proud member of the Committee for Education Funding (CEF). The organization sent this letter on behalf of its members to express opposition to the Administration's unilateral actions to abruptly halt funding for ongoing grants and contracts and urge Congress to insist that the Administration implement Congress’s laws requiring that these investments be made with fidelity.
- Expressing our concern on the cancellation of teacher prep grants: The Teacher Quality Partnership (TQP), Supporting Effective Educator Development (SEED), and Teacher and School Leader Incentive Program (TSL) grants are a vital source of well-prepared educators for schools across our country, yet many of these grants were cancelled unexpectedly over the past few weeks. ÂÜÀòÍøjoined a letter encouraging Congress to instruct the Acting Secretary of Education to immediately reverse the cancellation of TQP, TSL, and SEED grants.
