BOARD-SAVVY SUPERINTENDENT
As superintendents, we play a key role in empowering our school boards and cultivating a supportive environment that fosters board member capacity and reduces their urge to leave office early.
Sixty percent of the school board members in my tri-county region in upstate New York have departed over the past five years. Twelve of 22 school boards saw a majority of their members leave, creating a leadership vacuum that jeopardizes the stability of our districts.

This instability can have far-reaching consequences for our learners, especially in small rural districts.
