State of the Superintendency

More than two-thirds of superintendents participating in AASA’s most recent national survey indicate their formal performance evaluations by their governing boards are not made public.
In studies dating back six years, the number
of superintendent evaluations made public has seen some erosion — from 34.6 percent in 2012 to 31.8 percent in 2018. The most recent survey had 1,172 respondents.
