President Trump Signs Executive Order on Dept. of Education

Yesterday, President Trump signed an executive order that would direct the Secretary of Education to take all necessary steps to facilitate the closure of the U.S. Department of Education and “return education authority to the States.” The executive order aims to minimize the federal role in education but stops short of completely closing the Department as this move would require 60 votes in the Senate.
